District 9- concept art variants

I just recently saw some of the concept artwork generated by Weta for the movie District 9. Was really inspired and wanted to see how I could translate the sketch into a photoreal look(at least shoot for that type of feel).  I veered away from having the human eye/eye socket look for this round.  Wanted to push it more towards an insectal man thing.

So I created a few variants and plan on doing another round. Hoping the next round will be more convincing and will probably make sure to have some human elements added back in.

Awesome work, Jason! My favorite work of yours yet, in fact. Beautiful rendering. I like the first, faceless version the best.

Cory---> Thanks a million.. I'm always trying to top myself. Odd thing is that from my point of view, I never really know what areas to work on or what images are successful. By posting newer work, it helps me really to see if the image is working or not.

Jeff---> I hope so! I'm doing everything I can to improve and a lot of times it feels as if I am spinning in a circle getting nowhere. Yer work is always stellar and looking forward to your next book.

William---> Always a treat to hear from you Sir and happy that you liked the no face creature. Me too... faceless creatures terrify me.
