Monday, August 24, 2009 at 10:31 PM Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Everybody's stuff looks so sweet.
This piece is for an upcoming Dark Horse cover for Knights of the Old Republic #46. It garnered me a 3rd place ribbon at the Gen Con Art Show last weekend, whic
h made me pretty happy. You've got to take those things with a grain of salt though, becasue they would probably just give all the awards to Wayne Reynolds every year if they weren't trying to give other people a chance.
It's watercolor and oil on board, 11" x 17"

Very cool and ultra dramatic pose.
The cloth came out great!
Congrats on the award! It's well deserved. Beautiful, rich coloring and strong rendering.
Question: is this digital, traditional, or a combo? The more heavily rendered sections feel very much like traditional, physical paint to me, but those rock textures feel like digital photo texture overlays.
Hi Cory,
Thanks. It's all traditional. You can do a lot very quickly and easily with a palette knife.

Now that is impressive. Those are some very realistic rock textures you achieved.
