Lizardmen Designs

Some Lizardmen designs I did for team-ChOW II on The next step was to do a full blown illustration of one of there (my favourite was the second one) but health problems forced me to bail out :[ I might try and finish it on my own at some point though.

There's a whole background story to their race and his character that I wrote down, but the leading factor in these designs was to enable the lizard to warm up or cool down easily as they can't regulate their own body temperature. Therefore their body isn't covered for the most part (their scaly skin is enough protection as is too). Note the foldable armor on the back of the first design, serves the same goal.

Gotta agree, that middle one is a beauty. Could be that bump in blue and reddish hues with those jewels. Nice designs.

Agree with you, the second one is really nice, but the 3rd one is also cool. All of them good work. I think the lizard's specie is the "girdled lizard". it looks just like this one, except without armour! :)

All very cool,
I think I like the first one best with his armour and design/color. Nice work man - hope your health improves soon.

Nice, Yoitisi! I like how you kept the body shape quite lizardlike, as opposed to a human body with scales and a tail, as is most common with lizard man designs. Nice job on the scales as well.
What I like best about these designs, though, is the clothing and armor. You did a great job giving each version a distinct personality, even if their bodies are almost exactly the same. The straps and scars of the first one makes him seem like a soldier or gladiator, while the fancy armor, jewels, and gold tooth (love the gold tooth!) makes the second one seem more distinguished. The paler tones, jewelry, and the use of cloth rather than armor makes the last one feel older and aristocratic. Lots of great details! I had fun poring over these guys.

Sorry that health problems took you out of Team ChoW--landing a freelance job did the same for me. I hope you're feeling better now. What team were you on? Also, I'd be interested in learning more about this race and character's backstory.
