Happy Skullhead

Painting done just for myself. How nice to have a break from client work :-) The painting is 24"x24" oil on canvas.

Dood, I love your visions. Reminds me of a happy version of Pushead's skull art.... but I like this much better.

I looked at this and thought it very cool. On a second look, I see it's actually ridiculously awesomely cool. Man what a fun piece. I can see how you really had fun with it- all the fun details in the background as well as your Happy Skullhead. Win. Victory.

Awesome work Jeff! This piece really has the best of both worlds. The more flat and stylized style and the more rendered stuff you used to do for D&D. Very cool.

Gorgeous work! I especially love those mountains in the background and the character's eyeball-lashes. I keep coming back to look at this piece. :D

Wonderful, Jeff! I love paintings that combine strong, detailed rendering with cartoonish shapes, and the rendering here is indeed exquisite. Thank you also for posting that second image of you working on it. I like seeing photos of canvases like this. It gives a great sense of the painting as an actual, 3D object, rather than just a flat image.

Aww shucks, thanks everyone. You're gonna make me blush ;-) It really was loads of fun to paint. Cory, I posted the photo of me painting it because I really love when artists do that. I get so pumped up and inspired when I see how others work. I will actually have someone shooting video of me doing my next painting, which is still only halfway through the sketch stage. But I will definitely share that once it's done.

Really great work Jeff ! It made my seven year old laugh, cool little character and so well painted. I also like to see the artist working at their paintings. Thanks for sharing this.
