A Creature Bust
Maury Ruiz --
Friday, November 26, 2010 at 6:10 AM Hi again,
I just finished this and wanted to share it with everyone here. ..
It's a creature bust I did for my portfolio/ for fun. I created the base meshes of the bust, ears and teeth in Maya, detailed in ZBrush and colored in photoshop. I added more textures in photoshop, as well as the eye, hair and saliva. Trying to push my speed and quality, and hope to maintain it with future posts here.
Thanks again Davi and the Creature Spot community!

The Model below... and close up of upper and lower interior of mouth. :D

I love this bear! So many cool things happening in this one, but I feel like the uniform metallic sheen is really hurting it by communicating that nearly every part of it is the same material, so to really appreciate everything that's going on here is a bit of a battle. The more I slog through the overabundance of shine, the more I like about this creature. Very thoughtfully constructed and marvelously detailed... I'm really on-board for it. I hope you continue colouring/texturing work on this one, because it's just so solid. Thanks for sharing!
...It looks like you maybe posted the same image twice here, instead of including the mouth interior close-ups?
I Love this design the eyes are really nice, very unusual and I have to agree with William about the gloss finish it's a little heavy in places, knock it back a bit and the details will be enhanced. Very nice work you have a also enjoyed your last post a lot. Keep up the great work.
Aww, you can see how adorable it is from the profile pic! But, now you've posted the mouth interiors twice and deleted the original pic, lol. Good job on those teefs!
Looks like a horseshoe crab. Great rendering!
Thanks A bunch everyone!
Thanks William
Thanks Ryan
Thanks Nommo
William, yes, you are correct in your critique about the shininess. Every time I look at that image, I have the same reaction fighting the sheen on the skin. I have been paying close attention to this in future renders. Thanks for noticing the teefs! It's a lot of fun making the interior of the mouth, but it's hard to justify spending the time when they will not be seen,
Posted the model shot again, good looking out on that.
