Song of the Unformed...

Hi,

My name is Allen Williams. This is a detail of a personal piece(and also my first post here). I work in both traditional and digital media (this piece is Graphite on hpArches 300lb watercolor paper).

I want to say thanks to Davi for giving me the opportunity to post here. The demon bust below is great and there are some really incredible artists here!

Cool pic, Allen! I'm particularly fond of the balance of soft forms and textures, transitions and contrasts of darks and lights, in the upper right portion. How are you applying (and removing?) this graphite... Some areas look like fanned-out washes.

William,
Thanks for the kindness! I love discovering textures in a drawing and yes, its graphite powder in places, scrubbed in with a cotton pounce that I made. It gives me a good, middletone to build on. You have a great site as well!

Such elegant work! I really like how you balance large open shapes with tiny areas filled with intricate details, it works really well.
Welcome to CreatureSpot :)

A very big welcome to the blog, Allen. I've been browsing through the pages again after a month of so of absence, and seeing your work here is a real treat.
