Nothing Left to Burn

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 12:06 AM Hi everyone!
Here is something I've painted recently. I started this as a rough alien type character, then allowed the image to develop, which is one of my favorite ways to paint. The character, over time, developed into the scale that it is in this image, which helped flush out the narrative that gave it it's name: "Nothing Left to Burn." So, evidently, I visualize an opocalyptic story, but with an actual apocalypse at the end instead of the last minute hurra that always seems to saves mankind at the last second... haha...
So I wanted to convey that somber moment when the first of these creatures realized there was nothing left to burn...
Hope you enjoy.

Brilliant title, brilliant concept. Love it! Great sense of scale too, the creature felt huge to me even before I scrolled down my computer screen to see it actually was when I saw the water line. Thanks so much for sharing your work! =)
Thanks Jason!
I'm really glad you liked the title and concept. There's always so much more narrative that can be added to support the character and I often think about this when coming up with my titles. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it gets cheesy :D
