Trainer of the Hounds

Monday, February 28, 2011 at 3:27 PM Hello fellow monster lovers! I'm very happy to be posting here for the first time. I spent twelve years in the video game industry doing character and creature models in a variety of 3D programs. After having a daughter I decided I couldn't keep up with the grueling hours of the industry and still be the dad I always wanted, so I checked out and have been doing freelance work from home ever since. It's been five years now and I've been doing illustration and graphic design, and most recently, sculpture for hire. When I'm sculpting monsters, hot girls or superheroes in my home studio, somehow, it doesn't feel anything like work, so I'm trying to avoid all the other stuff.
This statue is a personal project that I'm turning into a resin kit. It's going to be cast in transparent orange/red resin so that the painted base can look like molten rock under the cracks and the girls hair can look like fire. I'll post painted pix as soon as they're available.

Thanks for looking!

WOW ! Welcome and thanks for posting !
This is amazing sculpting :)
The classic hot beastmaster babe. :)
I very much dig the overall look of the girl and the creature, although her right arm looks rather stubby and those arm bracelet things look like they're cutting into her...
Love her hair and the whole fire concept you're setting up!
Love this piece!
Beautiful concept! Love the fluid feel to this piece.
Very cool. I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat. The girl looks very Frazetta-ish (which is always a good thing:) I do agree with the other posr about her forearms, though. They should probably taper more going towards the wrists. Other than that, absolutely fantastic!
love this!
