PHOTOSHOP SCALE TEST

I'm trying to develop a nice technique to cover a creature with scales without having to individually describe each one, and'm pretty pleased with how it's progressing so far.  It's workable for creating the creature out of whole-clothe (as I've done here) or as an add-on for something pre-existing.

This dino is purely fictitious, incidentally.  :P

That looks very promising, let me know how it comes along, scale brushes and other ways to scale things could be very useful for me!

Stevie -- Thanks! Yeah, of course just creating and using some stamp brushes is a great way to handle it's probably a better way for a lot of things. This technique seems to have some real advantages in terms of speed, but limitations as well. ...Like anything, a mix of approaches is probably the best.

Davi -- Thanks -- It's good to hear the positive feedback! I've been meaning to work up a small tutorial on this, but've been dragging my heels. The core of what's going on here is quite simple and won't take too much explanation. It just takes some thinking and some messing around ("practice"), but I'll also be trying to pass on some smaller observations that might be helpful. I'll e.mail you or tag you on facebook or something when I get it done. :D
